I think one of the most common questions I am asked, if not the most common, is “How soon can you tell me gender?” I can determine gender at 14 weeks! How accurate is it that early? I have been scanning since 2009, I specialized in OB/GYN Sonography in 2012, and in 2015 I became “The 4D Ultrasound Lady” and I am now strictly dedicated to determining gender and getting fabulous HD Live and 4D images! So for me personally, I guarantee gender determination accuracy or I will offer a refund! Do I suggest trusting any Sonographer with your gender determination? ABSOLUTELY NOT! We have all heard the horror stories of moms being completely prepared for their sweet baby girl and on delivery day out pops a baby boy! or vice versa! Ultrasound is hard. Ultrasound accuracy is completely dependent on the person performing the ultrasound. There is plenty of room for operator error! Girl parts can be swollen, boy parts can be hidden, the angle can play tricks on the sonographer. I can easily make a boy look like a girl by tweaking the angle of my probe!
If your Sonographer is inexperienced and over confident…NO GOOD. If your doctor is doing your scan…NO GOOD. WHAT?!?! Most people think if a doctor tells you something it has to be right. In the world of ultrasound this could not be further from the truth. Doctors do not spend their time performing ultrasounds. Doctors dedicate their time to the care and well being of mommy and baby. Most of the time when they do ultrasounds themselves it is to check on baby’s health, if they happen to see gender, Great! If not, no biggie (to them). And that is fine! I would rather my doctor be excellent in the delivery room than on the ultrasound machine. BUT, it can make for some serious gender drama.
Perhaps you have chosen to go to a boutique, like my boutique. Great! Because I am experienced, registered, and the Gender queen. But suppose you have chosen another boutique. Have they hired a sonographer who is specialized in OB/GYN? Or is their sonographer specialized in Breasts, Vascular, Echo, General, Or small parts ultrasound and moonlighting in the OB world? It is important to make sure that whoever is scanning you is not only a registered sonographer, but an OB/GYN registered sonographer. Ask for proof! Those of us who are registered have cards that can fit in our wallets and certificates to hang on our walls that specify what modality of ultrasound we are registered in.
Most of us mama’s want to know gender the second the stick turns positive! It seems like the longest months of our lives as we wait! Yes, baby’s health is most important.. and gender is second! I am with you, I have 3 boys and I was sitting on pins and needles to find out each of their genders! But we don’t just want to know gender, we want an accurate gender. SO regardless of who you trust to deliver this ever so important verdict, make sure they are qualified!
